Galeon G. "Tom" Campbell,age 78, of Fremont, passed away on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at his home in Fremont following a short illness. He was born on January 7, 1947 in Skidmore, MO, the son of the late Willard and Erma(Dean)Campbell. He proudly served his country in the US Navy from 1965-1969. Following his service, Tom worked as a mechanic and later for P&H Mining Company in Milwaukee for 40 years before retiring. On April 25, 1981, Tom married his wife, Becky, and together they had one daughter, Tanya. They traveled the country working in the pit crew for ASA racing. After moving to Fremont, Tom worked security for Rawhide, and was currently working as the custodian for Fremont Elementary School, where he was lovingly referred to as "Mr. Galeon". His declining health forced him to retire from that position in June. Tom was a former member of the Fremont Village Board where he served as secretary. He was also an active member of Fremont-Wolf River American Legion Post 391 where he helped with chicken BBQ's, was a former chaplain and a member of the honor guard providing military honors to other fallen veterans in the area. Tom loved boating, fishing, camping, throwing horseshoes in leagues and shooting pool and darts. He and Becky also had a permanent camping site at Gala Resort in Fremont for 23 years.


Galeon "Tom" is survived by his wife of 41 years, Becky; his daughter, Tanya; special family friend, Jacob Kramer; his sister-in-law, Amy(Jeff)Weiss; three nieces, Mindy Meyers, Lindsay(Andrew)Barborich and Samantha(Andrew)Sunila, other relatives and friends.


A Memorial Service, with Pastor Mark Drengler officiating, will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at 1:00 pm at Lewin Funeral Home, 210 W. Main St., Fremont. Military rites by Fremont-Wolf River American Legion Post 391 will follow. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
