John Leo Robbert, age 55, passed away peacefully May 21, 2025, at home with his family by his side. John was born May 30, 1969, in New London, WI to Dennis and Kathy (Borchardt) Robbert. He attended Weyauwega-Fremont High School. Upon graduation, John joined the Army on June 22, 1987. He was stationed in Germany where he had a son, Bryan John. John served during the Cold War in Desert Storm and Iraq War. He attained the rank of 1st Sgt., retiring after 30 years in the Army/National Guards.


John married his best friend, JoAnn Bruesewitz, on Dec 31, 2008. John was a member of the VFW post 10407, member of the WBFD for over 30 years, and lifelong member of Christ Lutheran Church where he served as trustee for many years.


John enjoyed hunting, fishing and sturgeon spearing, time spent with his family, helping on the farm, visits with his Uncle Laverne, Aron, Mark, and Micah in the shop. He also liked watching Lifetime and football with JoAnn.


John adored and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He regrets not knowing his son better.


He thought it was a privilege and honor to serve his country. He appreciated his wife for standing by and supporting him during his military career and his illness.


John is survived by his wife, JoAnn and furry best friend Sunny; son, Bryan; stepsons, Jeremy (Crystal) Bruesewitz and Matt (Megan) Bruesewitz; grandchildren, Brooklyn, Rylei, and Kolten; his mother, Kathy Robbert-Alix; brothers, Jim (Jenni) Robbert and Jeremiah (special friend Lora) Robbert; sister, Barb (Troy) Nowak; stepbrothers, Scott (Kandee) Alix, Steven Alix, Tim (Deb) Alix; stepsister, Cindy Alix; uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; mother-in-law, Vera Frederick; and many friends.


He was preceded in death by his father, Dennis, and sister, Mary Bartel.


The Christian funeral for John will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in West Bloomfield with Rev. Brian Weber officiating. A visitation for John will be held at the church on Wednesday from 9:00 - 11:45 a.m.


The family would like to thank John's medical team at Froedtert and Heartland Hospice.
