Weyauwega-Fremont School Board Election Tied Vote

With the Weyauwega-Fremont School Board Election now at a standstill, all eyes are on the next steps to determine who will fill the seat. According to Wisconsin law (Wis. Stat. § 120.06(6)(b)), in the event of a tie in a school board election where nomination papers are required, the winner is determined by drawing lots—typically involving a random selection method, such as drawing names from a hat. However, if nomination papers were not required, the district may have a different procedure in place.

Meanwhile, Doug Ehrenberg retained his seat, defeating challenger Ben Selsing, and Brad Gerrits secured his uncontested spot on the board.

As the district navigates this rare electoral outcome, the community eagerly awaits further details on how the tie will be resolved. Stay tuned for updates on when and how the decision will be made.

Best of luck to both candidates
