Waupaca County law enforcement handled a wide spectrum of calls this week—welfare checks, medical assists, animal complaints, traffic crashes, 911 misdials, and a handful of suspicious-person reports. Here are the highlights.

Monday, Sept. 22
Fremont – Staff at the Fremont Travel Plaza reported a vehicle parked near the Citgo sign for several days.
Iola – Caller reported an SUV weaving and crossing the centerline.
Manawa – Welfare check initiated via Manawa Elementary after a child reported domestic concerns; extra patrols requested.
New London – 911 misdial from Rawhide Road was confirmed accidental.
Waupaca – Loose German Shepherd reported in the roadway; separate 911 hang-up traced to Outagamie County; later, an ambulance call for a woman losing feeling in her legs.
Weyauwega – Routine school/traffic patrols and agency assists noted.
Tuesday, Sept. 23
Clintonville – Resident located a phone and credit card under a porch tied to an earlier case.
Manawa – Illegal burning complaint; caller believed shingles/building material were being burned.
New London – Routine assists and traffic matters.
Waupaca – Welfare check for an elderly resident not heard from; separate report of a woman at an intersection with slurred speech asking for a ride downtown.
Weyauwega – Harassment complaint (dozens of unwanted messages) and a juvenile reported as a runaway later that evening.
Countywide – Dog bite with unclear exact location; several routine traffic calls.
Wednesday, Sept. 24
Clintonville – Traffic stop north of Hwy 156.
New London – Assist to neighboring agency; routine traffic.
Ogdensburg – Caller reported yelling at a residence; checked.
Scandinavia – Camera alert of people on private property; checked.
Waupaca – Storage-unit manager reported post-auction trespassers; separate complaint of unknown people parking and walking property with flashlights (video provided). Several school patrols and traffic complaints throughout the day.
Weyauwega – Brindle pit bull reported struck and on the shoulder near Hwy 10 and Reek Road.
Thursday, Sept. 25
Lebanon (rural New London) – Medical call for a 68-year-old male who collapsed; later handled as a death investigation.
Scandinavia – Reported runaway juvenile; found still on the property.
Waupaca – Swerving VW sedan complaint; separate 911 misdial confirmed accidental.
Weyauwega – Traffic stop on East Main Street involving a truck pulling a trailer.
Friday, Sept. 26
Fremont – Report of a red Chevy pickup slowly driving up and down Waupaca Street; driver said he was searching for a lost dog.
Manawa – School bus complaint: vehicle reported passing a stopped bus (paperwork on file).
Waupaca – Lockdown drill at the middle school triggered a panic alarm; law enforcement responded. Several deer dispatches countywide.
Weyauwega – 22-year-old requested help for suicidal thoughts and was transported for care.
Countywide – Multiple animal/deer and routine traffic calls.
Saturday, Sept. 27
Clintonville – Welfare check for a person with medical issues not answering calls; deputies followed up.
Fremont – Early-morning car-deer crash reported.
Iola – Caller reported hearing gunshots from a vehicle driving away.
Manawa – White Jeep with heavy front-end damage was found unattended in a turn lane; later, a dark red Toyota Tacoma was reported swerving and nearly hitting several vehicles.
Marion – Officers checked on a vehicle parked in a lane of traffic and spoke with two men walking nearby; later attempted to detain a man on a Waupaca County warrant.
New London – Automated crash-detection system notified dispatch of a wreck on Mulroy Road.
Waupaca – Visibility concern for a bicyclist near dusk; several routine traffic/welfare checks.
Weyauwega – Alarm at Corner Bar, 142 E Main St.; officers responded.
Sunday, Sept. 28
Bear Creek – Domestic-type dispute reported; deputies responded.
Clintonville – 911 misdial from a cell phone; caller said the phone dialed itself. Property-damage complaint later that morning.
Fremont – Teen driver suffered a head injury after striking a curb and crashing into a field along State Road 96; EMS paged. Separate calls included a dog-bite complaint and a suspicious white Toyota SUV that pulled into a driveway and peered into windows before leaving.
Manawa – Additional routine traffic/assist calls.
New London – Suspicious activity call in the overnight hours; quiet upon arrival.
Scandinavia – Late-night camera alert of a burglary in progress at a shed.
Waupaca – Multiple traffic stops and welfare/assist calls through the day; deputies also checked on a man reportedly staggering near Hwy 96 and nearly entering the lane of traffic.
Weyauwega – Ambulance call to Crossroads Care Center for a combative 72-year-old requesting evaluation.
Countywide – One fire call reported as “smoke billowing from behind a tanning shop” (location not specified in the log), plus several routine traffic/911 calls.

From late-night alarms and juvenile runaways to car-deer crashes, medical calls, and a few suspicious-person reports, area officers and deputies kept busy across the county. Most incidents were routine checks or minor hazards; others required EMS and multi-agency response, another steady week for the Waupaca County Police Blotter!
