Fremont-Fatal Crash on Highway 10 and Old Highway 49 (Sunset Curve)

Town of Fremont - A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of US Highway 10 and Old Highway 49 in the Town of Fremont has resulted in one fatality, according to a release from the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office.

The crash occurred at approximately 10:31 a.m. Tuesday, when a passenger car traveling northbound on Old Highway 49 was struck by an eastbound truck and trailer traveling on Highway 10. The impact caused significant damage, trapping the operator of the car inside the vehicle.
Emergency crews from multiple departments responded, including the Weyauwega Police Department, Wisconsin State Patrol, Fremont Fire Department, Weyauwega Fire Department, Fremont Ambulance, ThedaStar Air Medical, the Waupaca County Highway Department, and the Waupaca County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Despite life-saving measures at the scene, the driver of the passenger car was pronounced deceased. The operator of the truck and trailer was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities have not yet released the names of those involved, pending notification of family. The Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office reports the crash remains under investigation.
