Town of Wolf River Sets Budget Hearing for November 24

WOLF RIVER — Residents of the Town of Wolf River are invited to attend the 2026 Budget Hearing on Monday, November 24, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. at the Wolf River Town Hall, 8800 County Road II, Fremont.

The public hearing will review and discuss the town’s proposed 2026 budget, which outlines a total revenue and expenditure plan of $888,744, representing a 0.89% overall increase from 2025. A detailed copy of the proposed budget is available below for inspection. Otherwise, it is available at the Town Hall and on the town’s website, with a summary also posted at the Fremont Post Office.

Immediately following the hearing, at approximately 6:45 p.m., the Town will hold a Special Meeting of the Electors. During this meeting, residents will have the opportunity to vote on the 2025 town tax levy—the amount to be collected in 2026—pursuant to Wisconsin State Statutes.
Key proposed budget highlights include:
General property tax levy: $432,983 (up 1.06% from 2025)
Intergovernmental revenues: $226,036
Public Works (highways): $393,369
Public Safety: $134,750
General Government: $145,675
Culture, Recreation & Education: $8,500
The proposed tax rate is projected to remain steady at $1.81 per $1,000 of assessed value, based on a total assessed valuation of $238,682,200.
The regular Town Board meeting will follow at 7:00 p.m. that same evening.
Residents are encouraged to attend and participate in both the budget hearing and the electors’ meeting to stay informed about local spending, taxation, and priorities for the upcoming year.
