Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office Stops Wrong-Way Driver in Weyauwega

Weyauwega, WI — A wrong-way driver on U.S. Highway 10 led to a tense situation Friday morning after failing to yield to law enforcement and continuing into downtown Weyauwega before finally stopping.

According to the Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office, the incident occurred around 9:22 a.m. on Friday, November 7, 2025, when a report came in of a vehicle traveling in the wrong lane of traffic near Little River Road in the Township of Weyauwega. Deputies quickly located the vehicle as it entered the City of Weyauwega and attempted to initiate a traffic stop.


The driver reportedly continued into the downtown area before pulling over. Following an investigation, deputies determined the driver was operating under the influence. The Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office will refer several charges to the Waupaca County District Attorney’s Office, including:


  • Operating While Intoxicated (1st Offense)

  • 2nd Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety

  • Open Intoxicants in a Motor Vehicle

  • Failure to Yield to an Emergency Vehicle


The Weyauwega Police Department assisted in the response.
